The VIA Youth- 96 was derived by selecting from the original 198-item survey the 4 items per scale with the highest corrected item-total correlations. Language adjustments were then made for clarity. Mean internal consistency has been determined across two samples to be .86 and correlation with life satisfaction to be .36. Correlation with the long form (VIA-Y-198) is estimated at .84 on average across scales.
